MYROSŁAW JAHODA - the state of spiritual identity as a source of creativity.

In his short biography, he says: "Jahoda Miroslav Jakovych, born in the year 1957 in the village of Hirnyk, Sokalskyi district, region of Lvov. In the year 1986 he completed his study at the Ukrainian Institute of Polygraphy. He is a painter, graphic, writes poetry and fiction. He lives in the past future."

The cellar studio of Jahoda - an apartment in one of the streets of Lvov, reminds a bit a studio of Francis Bacon. Numerous number of oil paintings, graphic pictures, and studies, essential needs for biological and social survival and a number of both finished and unfinished texts, poems, pieces of fiction. A milieu of a Bohemian in its real, not arranged form, full of heavy mist of fragments, feelings, and life of the artist. One reflects the other. The reality of emotions, emotions of the milieu, and vice versa. A symbiosis of cruel reality of one creative life. Pain, lescape, joy, sorrow, resignation, attitude, attempt, and hope. In a kind of circumvention of without any side "escape" streets.

In a horrible, even freezing silence, Jahoda`s paintings scream by their loud power of colours, expression of "dancing" colourful spots, surfaces, and lines. A hell-like earthly theatre. People - demons, demons - people "signed" by the identical pain of both the experienced and the dream. Of reality and mystification, but in each case of creative truth. The pains of non-material inner world melted through the somacity of the state of one`s own ego. Of one`s own real and relative truth in the moments of the state of soul almost absolute.

Miroslav Jahoda gives names to his pictorial utterances by as if taken out of context of the real while preserving visual continuity are his logical consequence. The name of the work of art indicates the theatre on the canvas or the graphic and vice versa. In this theatre of the paintings of soul man is becoming a fragile thread of the plot without which the plot would have no signifiance, but on the other hand, it is merely an equivalent part of the whole composition (of colourful area, dramatic draw of a stencil, colour spot, or even painfully rapacious line or point). The pictures: Alcoholic and maiden, Death and love, Fate of a bird, AUT-40, Murder of a letter (of a white on a white), Bowl and knife, Milk of the Earth, Crucifiction, oils on canvas, but also graphic paintings like Self-portrait, City-orchard, Shadow of a circle, etc.

He paints only what finds itself in the symbiosis with his inner feeling directly in the reflection of reality and dreams. The condition of spiritual welfare and uncomfort by a frequent (maybe even permanent) catalyst of its over-transforming into visual form by means of the means of expression of visual arts.Jahoda speaks rather than paints. He communicates freely, openly, he is aware of possible misunderstanding or criticism. People and being in his paintings are people and being of his dreams and emotions. They are in the real "irreality", they are reflection of the inner form of the artist, his joys and sorrows, irritated by a mysterious character of one`s subconsciousness and hard fixation in the brains of an individual, people, world, day, night, good and evil, truth and lie, dream and reality. Mysteriously plain and at the same time publicly secret. Silent and noisy, as if ignoring pain, shifting its in the position of inevitability. This is a process of a unified whole between Jahoda and his work, work and Jahoda. Only in this way his artistic utterance may be personal and original. Inseparable and irreconcilable two parts of the one living whole, a living utterance of a mysteriously plain and simple man and artist and his work, of a symbiosis of a story living "his past in the future".

It is difficult to look for the roots of the form of arts by Miroslav Jahoda in any different place than in his own identity, his own artistic view of himself and the world. The viewer of his spacious and smaller canvas and graphic paintings may discover a visual fragment of a Muench and the like, but this shall only happen if he admits (which is quite real) our internal spiritual similarity with another, Jahoda`s emotional and spiritual transformations, states, moods, and feelings and the feelings of thousands of other people. Finnaly, with the images of the soul they are only comparable in that they are images of the soul. They are the only images of truth and it is not essential at all what is their form.
